At CrossLife we don't believe in "chance events" but rather that God purposefully directs all things. So we're glad you're checking us out and thankful the Lord has led you here. Below you'll find answers to frequently asked questions about CrossLife. We look forward to meeting you in person soon!
On October 8, 2017, we celebrated 7 years of God's goodness and faithfulness here at CrossLife Community Church. It was an especially celebratory Lord's Day because we also went independent as a local church and installed our team of elders!
Q: Why the name CrossLife?
A: Our passion is to learn the truths of the cross, lift up the cross, and live out the cross. We say with the apostle Paul "far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ" and "I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is everything to us, and we want to center all our lives and ministries around the gospel. It is the cross that transforms us in this life, and it is the cross that secures our eternal life.
Q: How would you describe the worship atmosphere at CrossLife?
A: In two words, joyful reverence. The gospel is "good news", so we celebrate and rejoice in our worship toward God and in our friendships with one another. Yet at the same time, we are meeting an absolutely holy and righteous God when we gather together in this celebration of Him, so we think joyful reverence captures the worship flavor of CrossLife.
Q: What time on Sunday does the service start?
A: Our Sunday worship service starts at 10:30am. There is a five-minute "quiet time" just prior to the start of service for everyone to prepare their hearts for worship.
Q: Is there a particular dress code that's expected at CrossLife?
A: You'll find that "casual to dressy casual" is pretty much the norm at CrossLife.
Q: Where do I park my car?
A: There are 25 parking spots in the back of the church facility. Once those are filled, you can park on the street, or just south of the intersection (on Baldwin Avenue) there is a public parking lot that has plenty of car stalls available. Also, you'll find greeters and signage that will help as you arrive.
Q: What's around the area?
A: CrossLife CC is situated in the heart of downtown and historic Sierra Madre. There are many restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance. If you need a coffee kick, Starbucks is right across the street!
Q: Is child care provided?
A: At CrossLife we encourage family worship because we think there's worth in children watching their parents worship the true and living God. We believe it's a form of discipleship, mentoring, and modeling godliness. By observing parents sing, pray, give, take communion, and receive the Word, children learn valuable lessons about our great God. However, we understand that the very little ones oftentimes can be restless, so our Crosslings (nursery through preschool) ministry is available to receive children 15-minutes prior to service.
Q: Is there any program for elementary-aged kids?
A: Yes, Crosswalk provides age-appropriate Bible teaching and opportunity for peer interaction for K - 6th graders. To promote family worship, Crosswalk'ers will worship with their families in the Main Auditorium at 10:30am, then be dismissed to their classroom prior to the sermon.
Q: As a visitor, do I need to give money during the offeratory?
A: No. As our guest, please do not feel obligated to give to CrossLife CC and feel free to simply let the offering bag pass you by. However, if you would like to know our philosophy of giving, click here.
Q: Do I need to be a Christian to attend CrossLife services?
A: No. One of our core values is that we be a gracious people (because God has been gracious toward us). We welcome any and all guests and will do our very best to extend warmth and hospitality. Yet at the same time, we are a Christian church that aims to be faithful ambassadors of the gospel. So our promise is that we will extend grace and hospitality and friendship to all our guests, Christian or not, yet we also desire for everyone to know and love Jesus Christ. We truly hope and pray that through our life, our love, and our lips, we at CrossLife would demonstrate the greatness and glory of God and His gospel, and that you might have joy and life in Christ.
Q: How can I get connected and grow in my faith at CrossLife?
A: First, get to know our people and our pastors through worshiping with us on Sundays. Also, you can check out our LIFE Groups that meet all over the San Gabriel Valley. We pray you will find CrossLife a place for you to worship and grow in your love toward Christ and His church.
